About Us

Drone Chanter Academy is an educational institute that specialises in delivering quality drone education. It was founded in December 2022 with the aim of supplementing the local education curriculum with real world experience so that our children can grow with relevant skills for this 21st and exciting century. It took us months to gather up relevant information and design the skeleton of what we wanted our program to look like and put everything in writing so that it becomes a wholesome package for learning. Our main focus is on children from the age of 6 because we believe this is a critical stage where dreams of life are shaped.

Values

We have certain values that we stand by at Drone Chanter Academy that we also hope our students can adopt in how they operate. The values are:

Innovation

Pursuing new creative ideas that have the potential to change the world.

Integrity

Acting with honesty and honor in all our actions.

Teamwork

Working collaboratively in order to achieve our goals.

Transparency

Being open in how we conduct ourselves with clients.

Quality

Providing outstanding services to deliver premium value to our clients.

Mission

Blending STE(A)M (Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics) with Social Emotional Learining (SEL) to develop Africa's tomorrow well versed technological gurus; confident adults who feel ready to navigate the complex and rapidly changing realities of the world together.

Vision

Giving our students an educational experience they will cherish for a lifetime.

Our curriculum was also designed to align with our new national curriculum that was redesigned and launched in 2013 with the introduction of STE(A)M learning and its mandate being to promote a competency-based approach. This is realised through practical-oriented learning and other strategies. It is envisaged that the curriculum will shift from a content-based curriculum, which focuses on knowledge acquisition, to a competency-based curriculum, which focuses on the learners capacity to apply knowledge, skills and attitudes in an independent, practical and responsible way. This would mobilise the potential of Zimbabwean learners to compete successfully in the labour market locally and abroad.

Topics

Drone Chanter Academy has a curriculum that includes the following topics:

STE(A)M in Drone Education

S - Science

Drones can be used to collect data about the natural world, including weather patterns, geological formations, and animal behavior. Drones can also be used to run experiments in hard-to-reach areas, like remote forests etc. Here at drone chanter we apply these uses in our practicals, which is a great learning experience our students will get while having fun.

T - Technology

Drones are powered by advanced technology, including sensors, cameras, and GPS systems. These technologies are constantly evolving, and drones are becoming more and more sophisticated.

E - Engineering

Drones are a great example of engineering, as they're carefully designed to be lightweight, durable, and capable of flight. The principles of engineering, including aerodynamics, materials science, and robotics, are all essential to the design and construction of drones. We then teach our students the engineering design process of these phantoms of the sky.

A - Art

Drones are being used to create stunning aerial photography and videography, which is changing the way we see the world. The art of filmmaking is also being transformed by drones, as they can capture unique perspectives and angles that were previously impossible to achieve, journalism as they write stories based on their footages they have taken.

M - Mathematics

Mathematics is used in many aspects of drone technology. For example, flight control systems use mathematical models to determine the drone's position and orientation. In addition, flight planning involves complex calculations to determine the most efficient path for the drone to follow. Drones also use math to process data collected by onboard sensors, including GPS, altitude, and velocity. Finally, drones rely on math to communicate with other devices, such as remote controls and computer systems. Math is an essential part of drone technology

Beyond the Classroom: 3 Reasons Your Child Should Master Drones

Discover why drone education is transforming STEM learning in Zimbabwe

Let's be honest: usually, when we hear a "buzzing" sound in the backyard, we're reaching for the bug spray. But for a growing group of young innovators in Ruwa and Zimre Park, that sound is the future taking off!

At Drone Chanter Academy, we're seeing kids aged 7–14 swap their video game controllers for Tello EDU drones and DroneBlocks coding apps. If you've been looking for a way to introduce your child to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) without it feeling like "extra school," here are three reasons why drone technology is the ultimate skill to learn right now.

1. Solving Real-World Problems (Like a Boss)

We don't just fly in circles. Our students act as a "drone solutions company," tackling missions that actually matter to Zimbabwe's economy.

  • Precision Farming: Imagine a drone scanning a crop field in Mashonaland to spot pests before they ruin a harvest. Our students learn the benefits of precision agriculture by programming systematic flight patterns.
  • Emergency Delivery: From delivering "medical supplies" to a remote tape-marked "village," kids learn the logistics of autonomous delivery systems.

2. Building a "Troubleshooting" Culture

In the drone world, things don't always go as planned—and that's where the magic happens! Whether it's a battery running low or a gust of wind, students must use "tuning" and calibration to fix their flight paths.

  • They learn to use variablesto adjust distances and loops to make their code more efficient.
  • This builds a "fail-forward" mindset that is essential for any future engineer or entrepreneur. Learning to code through robotics is highly effective for brain development.

3. Teamwork That Actually Works

Our students work in groups of 4–5, learning to communicate and collaborate to navigate aPrecision Obstacle Course.

  • They design choreography for "Dance Routines," requiring them to sync their moves perfectly.
  • We emphasize Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to ensure they grow into confident adults who can navigate complex realities together.

Ready to Start the Countdown? 🚀

We know safety is a top priority. Our curriculum is built on a foundation of Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) awareness and indoor-safe flight rules.

Why choose us?

Drone Chanter Academy is not just offering a fun and intersting way to learn through drones but our curriculum has been carefully put together to ensure that students also gain different skills that they can use in different aspects of their lives. We also have highly qualified personnel who will be teaching the students during the course of their studies. The following is what we are offering our students.

Enhancing STEM Learning

Drones are not just cool gadgets, they are powerful educational tools. They provide a practical way to engage students with complex mathematical concepts like geometry, algebra and spatial understanding. Imagine learning about geometric shapes and algebraic studies through the flight patterns and designs of drones!

Developing Critical Thinking

The use of drones in education goes beyond technical skills. It fosters higher-order thinking skills like problem-solving, critical thinking and creativity skills. Students learn to analyse, design, and execute drone-based projects, enhancing their analytical and creativity abilities.

Collaborative Learning

Drones encourage a collaborative learning environment. Students and educators can work together on project that involve exploration, discovery, and innovation. This teamwork fosters a sense of community and cooperation in the learning process.
